2025 Annual Memorial Day Parade and Commemoration

On Monday, May 26th Canton had its Annual Memorial Day parade to honor and remember its seventy-seven fallen service-members, those who gave their last full measure for our nation.

Photos from the day can be found in our new gallery here.

15th Annual Golf Tournament: A Great Time Had by All!

The 15th Annual Canton Legion "Duffer's" Golf Tournament was a huge success! Seventy-four golfers and seven volunteers endured sweltering temperatures (95+) to make the day a successful fundraiser for Post 24’s scholarship fund!  The final tally showed that the tournament raised over nine thousand dollars!

The victors of the tournament, who took home the day’s bragging rights were the ladies team of Nancy Kobs, Jess Rawding, Julie Ryan and Joanne O'Brien (seen in above photo). They finished the day with an outstanding score of thirteen under par!!!  However, the true winners of the tournament are the Canton students who will continue to benefit from the post’s scholarship fund.

Many thanks go out to Wampatuck Country Club, Conrad's Restaurant, Barry Schneider, as well as all of the sponsors and contributors for their kindness and assistance in making this day the success it was!!

What is "Be The One"?

The American Legion’s primary mission, Be the One, is a concentrated effort to save the lives of veterans and servicemembers at risk of suicide.

Across the nation, change is underway to reduce the number of military-affiliated Americans who are lost to suicide. Various estimates have put the daily toll at 18 or 22, while others say those figures underestimate the real number. In any case, The American Legion believes one is too many.

That is why The American Legion has prioritized raising awareness about the issue, providing free suicide prevention training and reassuring those who find themselves struggling that it is “OK to not be OK.”
